Spring 2016 was the first time ever that girls’ lacrosse was played on local fields!! During this time, girls were introduced to one of the fastest growing sports on two feet. We had so much fun practicing, learning the game, and scrimmaging within ourselves. However, this year we are looking to grow the sport even more.

This year our focus will be on teaching and improving skill, rules of the game, how the game is played, and preparing for competition. To ready the girls, we are expecting to have a clinic with the NCAA Division II Emmanuel Women’s Lacrosse team, playing scrimmages with the Gwinnett Lacrosse League and possibly other teams from the surrounding areas. Finally, our focus will be on preparing to play in a tournament in the beginning of June (more information to come).
There are so many opportunities for girls to earn scholarships to play in college. Women’s Lacrosse is played on campuses all around the country on all levels. In Div. I there are 91 colleges offering opportunities for girls’ lacrosse, 54 colleges in Division II and up to 202 opportunities to play in Division III. You can watch all levels of girls’ lacrosse on you tube, but here is a link to the 2016 championship game between North Carolina and University of Maryland.
I am so excited to offer local girls the opportunity to play a sport that I loved so much growing up in Annapolis, MD! Girls’ Lacrosse offers another opportunity in sport to get outside, meet and bond with other girls from the local communities, learn about sportsmanship and the fun of being a part of a team, all while representing and playing for God! What an exciting time!!
Check out what all the hype is about and then come play with us this spring. Practice days, times and locations will be sent to you after you have registered. Thank you for your interest and if you have any questions feel free to email me, emily18king@hotmail.com . I can’t wait to see you at the field.
